Basilica San Marco

Venice’s main basilica is a beautiful piece of Byzantine architecture, rich with artwork from world-famous artists. Often coined the ‘Chiesa d’Oro’ or ‘The Golden Church’, the walls inside are opulently gilded, making the lavish interiors practically glow. Within, there are St Mark’s relics on the high church altar, grand domes depicting biblical scenes, and intricate mosaics.

Burano

This captivating Venetian lagoon island is awash with a rainbow of houses – it is said that the colourful dwellings were to help guide fishermen returning home through the misty lagoon. Burano’s charms include its exquisite handmade lace and the leaning bell tower. It’s also the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful atmosphere whilst surrounded by vibrant flowers and tranquil jade waters.

Querini Stampalia Museum

Discover everyday Venetian life during the 18^th century in this fascinating museum. You’ll find an excellent collection of paintings, artefacts and furniture housed in luxurious rooms, including Hieronymus Bosch’s famous Visions of the Afterlife. There’s a ground floor café with a lovely garden to relax and refuel in.

Galleria dell'Accademia

This impressive gallery contains some of Venice’s finest masterpieces from the 14^thto 18^th centuries, with works by Canaletto, Titian and Bellini amongst many others. The Accademia was a former art school founded in 1750 – learn all about this intriguing history and explore over 24 rooms filled with glorious artwork

Doge's Palace

Previously the administrative headquarters of the Republic of Venice, which held power for 1,000 years, this striking building houses everything from council chambers to torture chambers! It’s known for its armoury, institutional rooms, prisons and of course, the Bridge of Sighs. Climbing the opulent 24-carat gilt staircase, you’ll explore a grand hall and some incredible artwork.
