Castle Howard

The sublime Castle Howard has, for generations, been one of the great palaces of Europe. Stately and theatrical, the ornate house is filled with incredible antique sculptures and a vast array of arts; it is surrounded by extensive landscaped gardens and parkland. The icing on the cake is the vast estate’s breathtaking location amongst the Howardian Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Harrogate

The splendid Victorian spa town of Harrogate is filled with stylish shops, lovely parks and pretty lanes that just to beg to be explored. Its iconic bath houses and old-fashioned tea rooms are livened up by an eclectic cultural scene, and thanks to its flower shows, Harrogate blooms with colour from spring until autumn.

RHS Harlow Carr

Lovely in every season, the RHS garden at Harlow Carr is a delight that sits in the glorious Yorkshire countryside. With woodland, water features and wildflowers over 68 acres, this is a relaxing and innovative garden to explore.

Harewood House

Nestled in the heart of Yorkshire, Harewood is one of the ten magnificent ‘Treasure Houses of England’. This fine property was built in the 18th century, and the art collections on display here are some of the finest you will find in Britain. One hundred acres of grounds landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown surround the property, offering a dynamic display of dazzling gardens.

York

The beautiful medieval city of York is enchanting, with its cobbled streets, ancient buildings and Viking past. At York’s centre lies the imposing, Gothic masterpiece that is York Minster, an enormous and important cathedral. Featuring medieval crenellations, a Tudor gatehouse and its own private chapel, this dignified property is a wonder to explore.

Ripon

The charming cathedral city of Ripon is an unspoilt gem by the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. The Gothic structure of Ripon Cathedral has an impressive history dating back to the 7th century, and the Saxon crypt from this era still survives today. Amongst the many noteworthy features of the cathedral are the medieval wooden carvings decorating its choir stalls, which are believed to have inspired the writings of Lewis Carroll.

Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (NT)

Fountains Abbey and Studley Royal Water Garden (NT) are a designated World Heritage Site. The imposing ruins of Fountains Abbey show the magnificence of the structure, which was established by devout monks seeking a simpler existence. The elegant Georgian water garden that surrounds the ruins was created by John Aislabie in the 18th century, and incorporates classical statues, follies, and breathtaking vistas.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Set in the parkland of Bretton Hall, the Yorkshire Sculpture Park is an open-air gallery that shows work by UK and international artists, including Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth. The renowned collection of contemporary pieces is beautifully offset by the historic estate, presenting an innovative display of ‘art without walls’.
